米津玄師さんのことを書いたので、パプリカの歌詞と、チームＥで唄われるPaprikaの英語歌詞を調べてみました。パプリカの英訳をしたのは、ネルソン・バビンコさんです。ネルソンさんは、日本語が上手で、米津玄師さんの曲をいくつも英訳しています。英語の訳と日本語の詩を並べてみると、英訳の素晴らしさがよく分かります。なるべく曲や元の詩の意味を損ねないように訳してあります。この歌は米津さんが小さい頃野山で遊び転げた体験が原形だと言います。「あなた」と言うのは母親だという意見と、友達だという意見に分かれています。どちらにも読めると思いますが、本当に無駄な言葉がなくて良くできた歌詞だと思います。
